Sessions and policies go global on the grid

Network virtualization requires a flat addressing scheme to allow any-to-any communication and resource mobility. Ethernet supports that. Business logic, on the other hand, requires session awareness and the ability to control end-to-end sessions to enforce policy rules. With the ConteXtream Grid, you can have both, thanks to the unique grid implementation of location/ID separation.

The ConteXtream Grid’s abstraction layer allows you to think of your network as a collection of sessions between resources that conform to your business logic. When business requirements mandate the addition of a network resource, the same requirements automatically configure the network settings of the resource: the entities it is allowed communicate with, the bandwidth it is allowed to consume, behavior that should trigger alarms, the path it should follow to reach other resources, and all other session-based rules.

In a ConteXtream Grid-based software-defined network, these settings follow the resource, regardless of changes of its location or to the underlying network elements.
