ConteXtream

Overview

Network operators face a critical business problem – how to build new service revenues quickly as legacy services revenues are increasingly challenged.

ConteXtream's mission is to help network operators solve this problem by improving their agility, speed and cost effectiveness in bringing new IP based applications and services to market. These applications and services may be built and delivered by the network operator solely, or they may be delivered in a more virtual manner – by the co-operation of the operator and one or more ASPs.

ConteXtream's Service Delivery Grid applies breakthrough technology to achieve these goals. While built on principles proven in large scale deployments, our Service Delivery Grid offers a fresh approach to service and application networking. By enabling operators to virtualize their networks, Service Delivery Grid

  • Drives far more productivity from application servers and software,
  • Delivers personalized bundles of services to every subscriber,
  • Scales the number of applications and services operators offer subscribers
  • Enables operators to adopt new business models, easily integrating ASP provided applications as "virtual" components of their networks so as to deliver new applications to market far more quickly and flexibly
  • Increases application and service velocity
  • Radically simplifies application deployment and day-day operations

ConteXtream's Service Delivery Grid is a software suite which runs on the most widely used industry standard servers. ConteXtream has partnered with the largest, most respected server and networking companies to bring network operators a full, end-end solution.

The technology underlying Service Delivery Grid is a re-application of Grid Computing to service and applications networking. Grid Computing technology has been widely proven as an immensely scalable approach to solving very complex problems by breaking them down to many small simple problems. ConteXtream's Service Delivery Grid applies this technology to virtualize operators' networks and thereby to deliver applications and services faster and more cost effectively.

ConteXtream Service Delivery Grid: Overview

The Service Delivery Grid functions by breaking down the overall network traffic into sessions – individual users' requests for specific applications and services. Each session is allocated to a Micro-Session Processor which optimizes how each request is handled – forwards it along an itinerary of servers determined by the individual subscribers' service elections, manages which requests are directed to the available servers so as to maximize server productivity and adds information to each request to enhance the experience the subscriber receives.

The result is a "virtualized network" where all the separate physical resources are treated as a single virtual pool; where each subscriber's service requests take a separate virtualized path through the network, dependent on the services the subscriber has chosen and not pre-ordained by the layout of the physical network; and where Internet connected business partners become a virtual part of the operator's network.

This enables faster deployment of new services, customization of services to the needs of each subscriber, and the ability to partner with ASPs to increase ARPU and reduce churn. Plus, Service Delivery Grid drives more productivity out of operator investments in application servers and software by virtualizing the network to create one unified pool of resources and optimally allocating subscriber sessions across this unified pool of resource.
